Following are different roles and responsibilities involved in a business process lifecycle which consists of four key stages such as modeling, implementation, execution/control and monitoring/optimization:
- Process Owners: The primary responsibility of a process owner is to own business process from strategic point of view and has end to end responsibility for the process. The diagram below represents the spectrum of responsibility of a process owner. The details could be further read on this page.
- Process Analysts: Process analysts analyses the business processes with the process owners and define the process model including information such as activity flow, information flow, rules, documents, business policies, business rules, performance measures (KPI).
- IT Developers: The IT developers working in process life-cycle are primarily involved into process implementation with BPEL and process decomposition into the services, identification of services, implementation or re-use of services, and overall integration.
- Process Quality Representative: The responsibility of process quality representative (testers) is to test the process flow in terms of whether activities execute as expected and, that the correct data is passed from node to node as your process runs. They also tests the human task assignments in the process to ensure that people with the appropriate roles in your organization will be able to complete the tasks assigned to them. This page provides the details on unit testing methodology of a business process. The things that could be tested with business processes are business process and all its paths, and the business rules component. Different BPM tools provide different mechanism of testing the business processes. The idea would be to have process quality representative leverage these testing tools and perform tests.
- Process End Users: Process users or participants are the ones who executes various different activities of the process.
- Process Managers/Administrators: Process managers monitor the processes whether it got executed in the most optimal manner.
