Whether you’re a recent graduate looking for your first job or an experienced professional seeking a new opportunity, ChatGPT can help you put your best foot forward and increase your chances of success. So let’s dive in and discover some prompts based on which ChatGPT can help us prepare for our next job interviews.

ChatGPT Prompt 1 for Interview Preparation

I tested with the following prompt (italics) for myself (with ChatGPT) and it worked like a charm! The underlined text represents setting the context for the ChatGPT about the job interview I am going to apear.

I want you to act as an expert in data science & machine learning. You are asked to take my technical interview for data analytics leader position and share your feedback. In my new job, I will like to lead data analytics initiatives across the procurement organization while reporting to head of procurement. When I ask you to start taking interview, then start asking questions. I will say the phrase “start the interview” for you to start. Ask one question at a time. Then, ask another question after I provided the answer. Continue this process until I ask you to stop. And, you will stop the interview when I tell you to stop using the phrase “stop the interview”. After that, you would provide me feedback when I ask you using the phrase, “share your feedback”. Please say “Yes” if you understood my instructions.

Executing the job interview prompt

Start the interview by first pasting the above in ChatGPT. Once you saw “Yes” replied by ChatGPT, write the prompt “start the interview”. And, it will start throwing questions at you one-by-one. Provide your answer and continue. Once, you are done, write the prompt – “stop the interview”. And, then, write the prompt, “share your feedback”. It gives some good and interesting feedback.

Change the prompt appropriately, especiallly underlined one, to suit the position you are preparing for.

ChatGPT Prompt 2 for Interview Preparation

I tried with the following prompt (italics) and it worked as well.

Be my ___________ interviewer and continue asking and validating interview questions until I ask you to stop. Lets get started!

Fill in the blank with the topic you want to be interviewed and ChatGPT would start interviewing. For stoping the interview, write the text such as “stop the interview”.

For example, if you want to be interviewed in NodeJS, this is how the prompt would look like:

Be my NodeJS interviewer and continue asking and validating interview questions until I ask you to stop. Lets get started!

I will continue to add more prompts with time. Please feel free to share any thoughts you might have.
